Helping people with loss of taste enjoy eating again
Smaakpupil is a digital application that aims to help individuals with loss of taste rediscover the joy of eating. While it does not claim to be a cure, it does aim to help people eat (again). Smaakpupil seeks to expand this service to a wider audience through digital means.

To develop the platform, extensive research was conducted to create a questionnaire that could effectively assess an individual's preferences and limitations in terms of food. The primary target audience was identified as the elderly, who are often affected by loss of taste. However, the platform is designed to be used independently or in conjunction with homes and kitchens that provide care for others.

After taking the test, users are presented with options that can enhance their dining experience. These suggestions take into account their dietary restrictions and health status. In an ideal version, the platform would also consider biodynamics and the meal being consumed to provide the best possible tastemaker. However, as this is the first version, the tastemaker is added directly to the person.

For standalone users, the platform offers a diary to keep track of their meals and rate the tastemaker suggestion provided. This way, individuals can gain a better understanding of what works best for them and when to use it. Overall, Smaakpupil offers a new way to approach the challenge of loss of taste and can make a significant impact on an individual's quality of life. To learn more, visit smaakpupil.nl.
